Are AI K-Pop Girl Groups the Future?

A few years ago, AI-generated K-pop music videos would have looked like an obvious experiment.
Not anymore.
AI songs are getting better. AI music videos are getting better. And some AI K-pop girl groups genuinely don’t look bad at all.
In fact, some small AI channels are already making songs that are surprisingly good.
The scary part is how advanced some individual creators have become.
The technology is already here
Take “We are RESCÉNE too…” — a fan-made song built largely around quotes from actual videos of Liv and May.
The music video is AI-generated animation, and honestly, at moments it is hard to believe it was not made by a professional anime studio with a serious budget. The MV has already 1.8M views.

Then there is “Princess of Silla and Assassin of Baekje.”
The vocals sound surprisingly good, and the overall sound is actually refreshing. The song is probably a little too long and eventually becomes repetitive, but it still shows how far AI music has already come.

And then there are experiments that are simply fun.
Someone made a RESCÉNE “Love Attack” trot version, complete with a music video featuring an old-school singer aesthetic. It is strange, simple and somehow very effective.
Sometimes the AI version becomes the hit
And then there is the completely silly side of this.
KATSEYE × ILLIT × LE SSERAFIM — “ICONIC BY MISTAKE” | Nursurreal Ver
This one is especially funny because it apparently went far beyond just being another AI fan-made song.
The song has around 1.2 million views, and it even got ILLIT dancing to it in Shorts. 😭
The funny short got 20M views
Simple can still work
Not every AI project needs to create a cinematic universe.
MINIMI — “BORROW THE NIGHT” is a good example of something much simpler. Yup I placed it here mostly for MV.
The idea is not revolutionary. Even if the song works is meh, the visuals work, and it’s sometimes scary in a good way.
That might actually be one of AI’s biggest advantages.
A small creator can now make a complete project — song, vocals, characters and music video — without needing a giant entertainment company.
My favorite: ReASKEW
My favorite AI group so far is probably ReASKEW.
They already have several different songs and music videos, and the project feels more like an actual group than a one-time AI experiment.
ReASKEW — “Frequency”
ReASKEW — “Parallel Lines”
ReASKEW — “I Need Your Query”
And then there are projects that go completely in the other direction.
Paradis — “Goodbye” is basically a full film combined with a song, running for more than 11 minutes.
It is weird.
But that is also kind of the point.
Honorable mentions
Simple summer song
EV/NA(에브나) - Ocean Mirage M/V
Very pretty baddies
So why isn’t this bigger?
As of now, these videos aren’t trending heavily. YouTube algorithms don’t seem to expose AI-generated content that much yet, and netizen sentiment online remains mostly anti-AI.
However, AI is already creeping into mainstream MV production and songwriting behind the scenes. While full AI groups might not replace real human idols tomorrow, if some of these fan-made AI songs were officially released as the debut of a real girl group, they would probably get massive applause. In an industry currently facing criticism over manufactured groups and nepobabies, maybe accessible AI tools are just the shake-up K-pop needs.
