aespa Faces Brazil Fan Backlash Over VIP Perks and Ticket Dips

aespa’s first concert in Brazil in three years drew mixed reactions. More than 20,000 fans attended and the members performed through heavy rain, but the show prompted complaints about last-minute ticket discounts, empty seats, and expensive VIP packages. The group performed at Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu in São Paulo on Sept. 4 for their “SYNK : COMPLæXITY” world tour. This marked aespa’s first visit to Brazil since their “SYNK : HYPER LINE” tour in 2023 and the start of their Latin American leg. SM Entertainment stated the concert drew over 21,000 fans.Questions arose over whether venue size and ticket prices matched local demand. SM Entertainment reported over 21,000 attendees, while Ticketmaster Brasil listed individual section capacities totaling 28,732 seats, meaning the venue was about 75 percent filled.

Photos of empty sections in the rear and upper stands circulated online, leading fans to question if the arena was too large. The concert did not sell out.A late discount promotion added to the debate. Promoter Live Nation offered 60 percent off general standing and north stand tickets. General standing tickets dropped from R$530 ($103) to R$212 ($41), frustrating fans who bought early at full price.

One fan wrote, “My dad bought tickets for aespa’s show, and today they went on sale for 60 percent off.” Another commented, “At least I got mine for 60 percent off. Thank you, Live Nation. Anyone who paid full price must be annoyed.”:

Complaints also came from fans who bought high-priced VIP packages. The Send-Off VIP package cost up to R$2,689 ($524) and included a post-show send-off event with aespa, exclusive merchandise and photocards, early entry, and dedicated check-in.Some buyers felt the send-off fell short. Fan-posted videos showed members walking past and waving, with interactions lasting around 10 seconds.“The interaction did not even last five seconds. I swear,” one fan wrote. Another added, “We got 10 seconds of them simply walking past us. I can’t even call that an interaction, honestly.“The package description did not specify a minimum interaction time or promise autographs, selfies, or handshakes. However, buyers paying a substantial premium expected a more personal encounter.

Fans were also disappointed by the setlist. Some Brazilian fans missed songs like “Drama” and “Thirsty” that were performed at the Seoul concerts.Despite these issues, aespa’s performances received praise. They performed through the rain, thanked the audience, and promised to return to Brazil.aespa’s Brazil concert highlights the importance of matching venues and prices to local demand while clearly communicating VIP package details and setlists.
