Group Name Meaning: '이달의 소녀' translates to "Girl of the Month". "Girl of the Month" references their pre-debut project, in which each new member was revealed with a solo each in a new month, then joined a new sub-unit. "LOONA" is derived from the first letters in each syllable block in "이달의 소녀" (ㅇ, ㄷ, ㅇ, ㅅ, ㄴ) rearranged to 'ㄴㅇㅇㄷㅅ', which looks like the characters 'LOOΠΔ', which when romanized becomes "LOONA". "LOONA" is also a re-spelling of 'luna', which means moon in multiple other languages, showing the group's concept that relates to the moon.
Official Greeting: "Hello, we are LOONA!"
Official Fandom Name: Orbit (오빛)
Fandom Name Meaning: Fans create an "orbit" around LOONA, which helps them grow. It also references the celestial concept. The Hangul version of the name can also be translated to "Oh light" ('오' means "oh"; '빛' means "light").
